Dr. Michael Lange, optometric physician/ certified nutrition specialist  and founder of  Lange Eye Care and Associates  was born in Metairie, Louisiana.  He was a very competitive athlete growing up and learned the importance of good eyesight and proper nutrition at a very early age. Dr. Lange played football, basketball, baseball and ran track in elementary, junior high, and high school but his real passion was motocross. Dr. Lange was a competitive motocross racer in his teens until an unfortunate racing accident ended his motocross career in 1979.

Dr. Michael Lange,  optometric physician, received two undergraduate degrees in Psychology and Physiological Optics before graduating from Pennsylvania College of Optometry in 1992. He passed boards in Florida and became a Board Certified Optometric Physician in Florida in 1992. Dr. Michael Lange went back to his home town for six months to practice in New Orleans before moving to Ocala, Florida, to open his first private practice on March 15, 1993.

Always an enthusiast for extreme sports, Dr. Lange continued to be competitive in mountain biking and road biking during his educational years and really learned the power of proper nutrition throughout this period. He experimented with a variety of diets and supplements to try to maximize his own personal athletic abilities. He began to read every book and go to every seminar he could on nutrition  and sports nutrition for promoting total body health. Dr. Lange has come to the conclusion that a modified gluten free, organic, Paleo type diet works best for most patients. In 2019 he developed  a diet called “The Lange Survival Diet”  that he recommends to everyone.

Ocala eye doctor receives national attention with radio show Ask The Doctor

Michael Lange OD, CNS.  the Ocala eye doctor, started a live call in talk show on eye care and nutrition in April 1993 called Ask The Doctor. This talk show has been a huge success at promoting Dr. Lange’s philosophy of eye care  and nutrition and has gained Dr. Lange national attention. This talk show can now be heard on multiple networks throughout the world and on live video streaming over the world via the Internet , Facebook , You Tube, Twitter, Periscope and Instagram.  Dr. Michael P. Michael Lange OD ,CNS expanded Lange Eye Care and Associates and by 2012 had opened 13 locations throughout Florida and has developed one of the largest solely owned primary eye care centers in Florida. Michael Lange O.D., CNS, has worked 18-20 hours a day seven days a week to get to this point. Dr. Michael Lange has established a tremendous reputation as a doctor that sincerely cares about his patients, going that extra mile and doing what ever it takes to get the job done and make the patient happy. Certified Nutrition Specialist in 2008

Dr. Michael Lange became a Certified Nutrition Specialist in 2008 making him one of five optometrists in the country to obtain this goal. Dr. Lange started the Fortifeye Vitamins company in 2005 and continuously does research on absorption and bio availability of nutrients to aid in the development of his Fortifeye line of vitamins. He regularly travels the world on research trips in the quest of more knowledge and to improve his vitamin formula. Dr. Lange is rapidly becoming one of the leading authorities on nutrition and ocular health. Lange Eye Care and Associates has had multiple  locations in Florida with offices located in Gainesville,  3 in Ocala,  Williston,  University of FLorida campus , The Villages, Inverness, Citrus Hills,  Summerfield, Tampa and two in Clearwater. Lange Eye Care locations are state-of-the-art eye care centers which all have large in-house optical services with on site optical labs. The Lange Eye Care centers in Gainesville, Ocala, The Villages and Clearwater also offer eye surgery. Dr. Michael Lange’s eye care centers can take care of the most complicated eye surgeries or the simplest routine eye exam, from pediatric to geriatric and everyone in between.

in 2016 Dr Lange was made an offer he couldn’t not refuse by a large corporation to purchase his Lange Eye Care offices .  He did however keep his flagship office The Lange Eye Institute  where he sees patients five days a week.

Dr. Michael P. Lange, optometrist, is still involved in many extreme sports like motocross, mountain biking, road biking, white water rafting, skulling , kayacking,  weight lifting, snow skiing, scuba diving, wake boarding, surfing, water skiing,  car racing (NASSA  and SCCA and has been known  to show up in an LMP3 prototype at many events) and also enjoys a good game of tennis.
